The leisure pool was
designed and constructed by Western Recreation and Development
Inc. of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Local contractors were utilized by
the contractor to assist with construction of the facility.
The pool tank itself consists of:
Constructed with a combination of concrete, powder coated steel
double wall system and a cushioned vinyl lined tank this
facility has incorporated some of the newest technology into
it's design.
Construction includes a four foot high (vented), crawl space
surrounding the entire structure. This area contains all the
necessary piping for inlets and returns, which lead to the
mechanical building through an enclosed culvert system. Tank
lighting are accessible from this area. The tank is equipped
with a total of 12 - 500 watt underwater lights.
Night swimming is possible with the three 30 foot light stands
which illuminate the deck with a total of 6000 watts of light
during the night operation. Decking includes a large
interlocking stone patio, surrounded by grassed areas for
enjoyment.
Fencing is chain link, eight feet high. Double doors through the
facility building allow for emergency removal. An eight foot
maintenance gate was installed close to the mechanical building
for maintenance use.
Three sumps are located within the area to control the ground
water level and prevent possible damage to the structure. All
pumps operate automatically.
Constructed with the building floor slightly lower than the
water level in the pool tank, this building's primary purpose is
to accommodate the electrical and plumbing necessary for the
pool tank. 20 h.p. pump draws water from the pool tank through
four high rate sand filters to three natural gas heaters onto
the automatic chlorinating process and back out to the pool
tank. Separate chemical storage area allows for the safe
handling of products used in the day to day operation of the
facility.
Chlorine tanks and feeders operate in a ventilated room. Safety
equipment, including breathing apparatus is mandatory (house
rules) for all persons working with the chemicals. Solar heating
will be re-installed for the 2000 season to reduce overall
energy costs. Water temperature is maintained at approximately
85 degrees F. for bather comfort.
Wood frame construction this facility features a large reception
area which provides easy access onto the pool deck for those
parents wishing to watch swimming lessons, grandparents wanting
to rest in the shade, etc.
Patrons are greeted by our cheerful "greeters/cashiers" upon
entering the facility. A small concession area is operated here
in addition to the payment of swimming and camping fees.
Change and shower rooms are located along the hallway. Direct
entrance to the pool deck can be obtained through both the men's
and ladies change/shower areas. Each room contains a total of
three showers and water closets.

complete their lessons plans, lessons reports, etc.
