Thank You from the Mayor & Council

Thank You from the Centennial Committee

Hi Hamiota

We just returned from the Fair and Homecoming weekend. What a great time!! Congratulations to all of the many many people who obviously put a great deal of work into organizing everything from the meals to the dance, tours and concerts, beer garden and reunions and the docudrama. It was a wonderful opportunity to see people I had not seen for many many years. But also it was a time to learn about the community I grew up in and appreciate the heritage and history. I am very proud of being from Hamiota and love to have the opportunity to return. Please pass on our congratulations to everyone who worked so hard for a very long time on all the events that took place. Will there ever be another time to get together in the same way again? We hope so but perhaps not. THANK YOU!!! THANK YOU!!!! A job well done. We will be watching the site for pictures and news.

Hello again,
We would like to thank the Centennial Committee for their vision and leadership, and the many citizens of Hamiota and the surrounding area who made this past weekend such a wonderful event .
Jim had the pleasure of meeting numerous current and former Hamiota residents, friends and classmates, many whom he had not seen for over 50 years.
Those who did not attend, missed the event of a lifetime.

Just a quick note to say a very sincere "thank you" to the organizers, volunteers and all who were involved in the planning and running of the 100th anniversary reunion last week.  Having been a conference co-ordinator in my own illustreous career, I know what goes into a project of this magnitude and just have to tell you that it was extremely well done.  No doubt there were some hitches along the way, but they didn't show.  It's obvious a lot of thought, time and work went into all of the various venues of the four day program and you can all now relax, take a well deserved rest, and be proud of a job well done.

Again, our thanks to you all.

Jim and Doreen Bullen (nee: Edwards)

I have just spent five days in Hamiota for the reunion on behalf of a friend who was born there. I had to write and tell you how much I enjoyed your reunion.

I can honestly say I have never been to a more well organized event with so many attractions for those of us who were merely visitors. I truly enjoyed all of the activities. I was camped in your campground and even though there wasn't full service, I managed to, keep the camper cool and fridge working. The Pool was absolutely  full and your employees were very professional.

But the reunion's events were spectacular, from the fireworks to the displays to the heritage Amazing race were all fun and so very well organized! I learned a lot form the documentary-drama and from there I was invoked in the activities engaging anyone to scrub the Mayor's shirts or sing a new hymn!

I congratulate you all for an effort well done and hope to return to your community at another time. You have a lovely town and it looked like everyone was on board with beautiful yards. Thank you so much for your efforts!

I only hope my small community could provide such a wonderful experience on the occasion of our special celebrations. Thank you and best to all who were involved.

Hats off to everyone who worked so hard to make the 100th Hamiota celebration so memorable.

We were immediately impressed by the immaculate yards, floral baskets, and smart looking store fronts. The parade was amazing! We enjoyed the many food venues set up, and thought the breakfasts were wonderful. It was great to visit with so many people. The amazing race and steer weighing contest were highlights for our daughter, and the Ag tour for my husband.

I enjoyed every aspect of it, and am very proud to have been raised in Hamiota. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and what an incredible one you have!

Wasn’t that a party!

As a Hamiota native who hasn’t lived in Manitoba for more than 25 years, I was grateful for the chance to return to my hometown for the Centennial celebrations. I want to take this chance to thank all the volunteers and organizers who helped make the event such an incredible success.

From start to finish, I had a great time.  The town looked beautiful, and everyone went out of their way to be friendly and hospitable.  I met old classmates and teachers, and I was able to take in all the changes that have been made in the area over the years.

The events over the weekend were top notch.  From the dance and parade to the beer garden, tours, fair, suppers and presentations, I enjoyed every event I attended, as did all the others I spoke with.  I was even able to tour my old stomping grounds, and enjoyed a moment at the old post office, the landing spot for a particularly memorable joy ride in my youth.

You can’t put a price on those kinds of memories, and I left town  feeling like a million dollars.

The hospitality I experienced during my visit to Hamiota was definitely six star, and I’d be happy to reciprocate when any of you can make your way to Calgary.

Was one of the best weekends I had. There was so much to do and saw many old friends.

Congratulations for a job very well done!
